CP Rail – North Bend Flood Repairs

Project Overview

During the rain events of 2021, over 50,000 m3 of a mountainside was washed out along with several CP rail tracks and rail cars. Jakes mobilized to site and installed three 1800mm Diameter x 120m long steel pipe culverts under the remaining existing rail tracks and down the eroded mountainside to provide suitable drainage for the rain water collected in the area.

The crew continued to backfill and reinstate the mountainside slope to provide a safe and stable mountainside again. In addition, Riprap protection and concrete headwalls were added at the 3 pipe outfalls to protect against future erosion.
