Highway 1 Realignment – Mountain Crossing 1

Project Overview

For this project, we realigned Highway 1 at Mountain Crossing 1 (near Hope, BC) for 1.66km to accommodate the construction of Trans Mountain’s Expansion Project Line 2 adjacent to the highway. Jakes also constructed a major hydro and communication duct bank alongside the highway to improve future services to the surrounding communities.

This project was substantial due to the challenges of working between an active highway and a mountain. We also needed to directionally drill a hydro and communication conduit under the highway, making for another unique challenge.
