Project Overview

This project involved recovery and stabilization work following a washout along Othello Road near the Coquihalla River. Jakes Construction supported the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure with earthworks and channel management to restore the roadway and protect the corridor from future erosion.

Work included clearing and grubbing, excavation, and the construction of a diversion channel and berm to manage river flows during construction. Crews installed rock groynes, riprap bank protection, and large woody debris features to improve channel stability and support environmental considerations.

The scope also included partial reconstruction of the westbound lane, roadworks and paving, landscape walls, and riparian planting and staking to support long-term site recovery. The project reached substantial completion in November 2024 and required close coordination with engineering and environmental teams throughout construction.
